In 1855, the estate was classified as a First Growth and recognized for its continued excellence.Ā  Today, as the oldest and largest Barsac estate, Chateau Coutet stays true to its tradition of distinction and quality. Ā Located between the Garonne and Ciron rivers, ChĆ¢teau Coutet benefits from a microclimate whose autumn mists necessary for the spread of the Botrytis cinerea. The vineyard area extends 38 hectares with grape varieties of 75% SĆ©millon, 23% Sauvignon blanc and 2% Muscadelle.
